Judging
A six-member panel will judge the actual category performance of the contestant presented before a live audience. Contestants will be judged on technical excellence, showmanship and treatment and interpretation of material. The aggregate score from each judge will count equally in determining the winner and runner-up in each of the six categories. The highest scoring act in the competition will be selected as the "Best of Show" winner.
TOPS IN BLUE Selection
Winning the competition is not a criterion for selection to TOPS IN BLUE and winning the competition does not guarantee selection to TOPS IN BLUE. All participants in the Air Force Worldwide Talent Search are eligible for selection. During the competition all contestants will be judged in a closed session indivdual audition to determine their proficiency in their main entertainment specialty; versatility of music styles and other talents; and musical knowledge and interpretation. Contestants will also be judged during a closed session individual interview on attitude, desire to become a member of TOPS IN BLUE, and appearance on stage and ability to serve as an ambassador for the AIr Force.
If, as a result of the competition you are being considered for tour, Air Force Entertainment will contact your commander directly to discuss your possibility of touring. Each team member selected will be notified by his or her individual wing commander. The staging period for this tour is currently scheduled to start 15 Feb 12 and conclude approximately 13 Feb 13. If an applicant competes at the worldwide level of competition and declines TOPS IN BLUE, the following consequences will be strictly enforced:
• The applicant will immediately be eliminated from the competition.
• Air Force Entertainment will not pay return travel expenses and any previous travel expense. Personal maintenance expense allowance payments made to the applicant must be reimbursed.
• Applicant will be restricted from competing in any future Air Force level talent competitions.
