Senior Airman Brittney Loving, a trumpet player from the 7th Logistics Readiness Squadron, and Staff Sgt. Tommie Crutcher, a vocalist from the 7th Force Support Squadron, returned to Abilene May 30 to perform "Rhythm Nation" with Tops in Blue in front of their home crowd at the Abilene Civic Center.

This year's show featured American music from the early 1900s to today, providing a glimpse of a century of popular music and how it grew through new rhythms and technology. Musical performances include jazz, rock 'n' roll, R&B, country and pop.

After auditioning and being selected as part of the elite group, Sergeant Crutcher and Airman Loving traveled to Lackland Air Force Base, Texas, where they spent the next four months training and preparing for the tour.

"Trying out for Tops in Blue was an incredible experience," Airman Loving said. "It was even better coming together and forming a team. But having someone from Dyess here with me made it special."

Sergeant Crutcher had dreams of being part of the Tops in Blue tour since he first watched them perform during basic training.

"Ever since I saw the Tops in Blue performance in 2006, I just knew I had to make that team," he said.

This is his second tour with the team after making the show once before in 2008.

"The best part about the tour is seeing the growth we have made as individuals and a team, as well as learning new things about myself," Sergeant Crutcher said.
